Egypt (2001)

Deserts… there’s plenty of those here. The Sinai is such an ancient area, steeped in history. I like that so much. So in 2001 I, together with a friend, visited Egypt. When you go to Egypt you just have to visit the pyramids. So we did, and the Egyptian Museum.

We were there in november, two months after the outrage on the WTC in New York. As a result, Americans no longer dared leave their country, let alone for a muslem country. The rest of the world apparently didn’t dare to fly any more. In short: it was rather quiet in Egypt.

We met only friendly people in Egypt. Thinking all muslems are as insane as the WTC attackers is as absurd as thinking all Americans are as crazy as Bush and Rumsfeld.
